Moodle 1.6

  1. Entrar como administrador.
  2. Locate the Site Administration block on Moodle's home page.
  3. Click on Appearances and scroll down the menu that appears and click on the My Moodle link.
  4. You may also allow users to create and configure their own sideblocks on the My Moodle dashboard by making sure the button in the upper right-hand side of the page is set to Blocks editing on. If it is currently set to Blocks editing off, just click on it to make this change.
  5. Check the box near the Force users to use My Moodle field and click Save changes at the bottom of the page.

Sticky blocks in My Moodle

You can also specify which sideblocks will appear when users login and are automatically taken to the My Moodle dashboard:

  1. Entrar como Administrador.
  2. Locate the Site Administration block on Moodle's home page.
  3. Click on Appearances and scroll down the menu that appears and click on the Sticky blocks link.
  4. Locate the Page type to configure drop-down menu and select My Moodle.
  5. Select the desired block from the Add... drop-down menu that appears within the Blocks sideblock. Configure each block as desired. Each block may also be placed using the arrow icons in the block header.

Format of page

In the center of the page are courses the student is allowed to access.

The blocks on both sides can be customised:

  • The user can (if the admin allows it) add their own blocks.
a) Use care when activating this feature as default. Students can add the html block for instance, and link to items or images that might not be approved.
b) The user can include (in version 1.6) any site block, although the user may not have permission to view the block's contents.
  • The administrator can specify Sticky blocks from the Admin settings. This will force specific blocks to appear on every user's My Moodle page. This can create duplicate blocks, one editable by the student and the other only by the administrator.

Quoting Julian Ridden: "The MyMoodle page allows for a customisable homepage for students to be set up. The "Customizable" element comes from students being allowed to setup the page with Blocks that they would like to use. Blocks can be locked in as immovable and also can be hidden from students if needed to prevent them from being used."

The page also shows updates that have occured in courses that the student is enrolled in.

The My Moodle page allows the user to add and customise certain blocks, with the user's courses appearing as a list of sections and showing recent activity.

Habilitando Mi Moodle

  • Set mymoodleredirect to 'Yes' in the miscellaneous section of Administration >> Configuración >> Variables
