If you are using the [Moodle2Word|http://www.moodle2word.net/] (WordTable) plugin you need to ensure the following:
The file name does not include brackets.
If you have inserted images they may need to be compressed. Double click the image and in the Adjust section (top, left) choose Compress Pictures, then All pictures in document and Web/Screen. Then Apply.
Make sure you use the Word template file available here: http://www.moodle2word.net/mod/resource/view.php?id=83
