Talk:Password salting

From MoodleDocs

How does password salting work with institutions that use LDAP for single-signon? I believe our school has a separate password/ID server to handle all of this. This question might a good point to add on the password salting page.

For those authentication plugins that never store the password inside Moodle database (or those that can but are configured not to, like LDAP), password salting doesn't do anything at all. Moodle simply stores the string 'not cached' as the password for the user. Iñaki Arenaza 12:08, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
