Problems with Wiki: It is not possible to make a wiki page if one cannot find encyclopedic material to put on the Internet even though it’s free. According to the ground rules established by Wikipedia, the title of the subject to be written should be new and not something someone has already written. The Problem with Wiki is also that pages that are relatively new are deleted quickly to avoid clutter these days, so Wikipedia cannot be used as a Repository to store things. They have to be encyclopedic content. Text can be written from Microsoft Word and later copied to Wiki. One can practice by writing stubs on Wikipedia only if one is logged in. They are there to understand how to write good articles. Stubs contain very few sentences but they are serious pieces of works/contributions where other Wikipedians expand on the author’s work. Obviously plagiarism is forbidden but things can be copied by atleast citing the source/s. For storing large files wiki or moodle isn`t a good idea. For example storing a large file like a Powerpoint presentation will not be possible or an image more than 2 MB. But there are other internet hosting services that give the user free but limited uploading space. One of them is Badongo(www.bodongo.com). Its one of the most popular website in US. But because of its popularity, the connection is not very fast.So one must wait a long time to upload a file bigger than 2MB. And its not possible to do that with firewall and so much security in a company like Alstom. In order to be able to store files on the Internet, one needs to go into a File Hosting Service. Even the best File hosting service sites take a lot of time to upload depending on the network traffic. But if one is ready to pay money (approx 5 $) every month, then the connection File transfer & File Space is guaranteed.
